Decided to head out for a short daytime session targeting mini species at my local dock. It’s a spot I often return to when I just want simple, fast fishing without overthinking things.
Armed with size 14 hooks and some isome worm, I set up a very light setup and started working along the edges of the dock where fish tend to hold. Conditions were fairly calm, with just enough movement in the water to keep things interesting.
It didn’t take long before I was into my first fish. There’s something really enjoyable about these quick bites on light gear — you don’t need long waits or complicated tactics, just the right spot and a bit of patience.

I absolutely love catching mini species. They might be small, but they’re active, fun, and perfect for short sessions like this.
A second fish came shortly after, again on a simple slow presentation close to the structure.
Then a third followed not long after that (I was actually hoping to catch one of these in particular, so that made it even better).

The action was steady enough to keep things interesting without ever feeling pressured or chaotic — exactly what I was after.
Finally, I landed a fourth fish to round off the session.

I was probably fishing for less than an hour in total, including setting up and packing away. Even short sessions like this remind me why I enjoy ultralight fishing so much — it’s simple, accessible, and always entertaining when the fish are active.

It doesn’t matter to me how big or small the fish are — I just love being out, reading the water, and seeing what’s around.
